Selected Heat Tolerant Lines
Heat tolerance, as it relates to fruit set, may be due to one or several factors such as pollen viability, style growth or a plant's metabolic rate. Flowers experience trouble with fruit/seed set whenever daytime temperatures exceed 90oF and night time temperatures exceed ~76F. Heat either destroys pollen or interfers with the fertilization process resulting in flowers which abscise. The following is a list of a few varieties that are supposedly tolerant to heat.
